Really good app, had some issues but the dev was there to help :) tried other book reading apps, this one looks best like ibooks. keep going

Release after release still not very stable and useless… ----------- - The application is NOT able to import your book from iTunes if you change the path of your iTunes library. - When adding books manually, crash during import making the software unusable. - When you use lion gesture to switch pages, it skips 2 pages each time i.e. if you are at page 14-15 it will bring you to 18-19 and only show 16-17 for a second. - No transition, animation or anithing when you flip pages - You can enter in fullscreen mode with the Apples shortcut, but not leave the fullscreen mode ... - The software is not polished at all, dont be tricked like my by the screenshots, its all static stuff and hiding all the lacks of the software. 8 bucks thrown in the trash. Dont buy this crap.

Cant open a book (epub format) or when it does its only unreadable caracters! Very disappointed, would get the full refund if possible! If… someone could help me to solve it, I would definitly change my review on this app.

bought it. Download a book from itunes. didnt open. Result : zero.

The Best!

Although the app has a nice overall look-and feel, that tries to mimic the eBooks look-and-feel, it has major issues in displaying an ePub and also in doing a proper job in managing a library. Style sheets in the ePub seem no to be rendered at all, so that justification and alignment of the text does not work. In terms of manging a library, the app simply shows name and author from the ePub itself. Editing is not possible. Tags, series infomation or simliar properties do not exist at all. In summary, the app is lots of style over almost no substance…

Its pleasant enough to read with BookReader (which is the most important thing by far with such a program). Unfortunately, the fullscreen mode is awful. Firstly, the text no longer fits within the page, making it very ugly and hard to read. Worst of all, like every ePub reader Ive tried from the App Store, BookReader spreads the text across the whole screen. This may work well on a tiny MacBook Air screen, but it is absolutely terrible on a large monitor.

Dear developer, I have a problem with a BookReader last week or so. It does not open any book it opened before. The library shelf is working, but klicking on book gives nothing. Same is from Finder - BookReader remains silent. Reinstalling and cleaning Library folder does not help. Regards, A K P.S. Problem is solved by upgrading the system to 10.8 (Mountain Lion) A K

Very nice maclook-designed app that fills the missing ibook-reader on my mac. I use this app to read epubs exported from Digitale Bibliothek Software 5 running with Parallels 8. Der Support antwortete sehr schnell und zufriedenstellend.

This reader has evolved quite a bit from previous versions. While earlier versions had problems with compatibility, this version seems to be a good improvement: Indesign epubs are now read, and all other epubs Ive tried worked as well. In my opinion it is the nicest eBook reader for epubs on the mac. The interface is nice and Mac-like, and most epub style elements are supported that are needed for most standard books. 4 of 5, because still some css-styles are still ignored by this reader, however that does not impact reading of most books.

This app has a very good interface, but is missing important features. - No way to view the table of contents (like iBooks) without going to the beginning of the book. - No manual sorting on the bookshelf. - No highlight feature.

I like this reader very much. At first I didnt like the double page layout but after a few pages came to actually prefer it. I use Calibre to put covers on my books and then they look better on the shelf. What else to say except BookReader is much better than Bookle and any of the freebees I have been using. I also like beign able to have more than one book open.

good reader, but some inside picture can not appear. Some of self build epub can not show the picture, It can good appear on the Ibook(iPad,iPhone) and adobe digital editions. I wish can fix it in next version.

BOOKREADER VERSION 4.0 is useless…. Under the bookshelf tab, I selected import books from iTunes, it was a complete waist of time and after much time of trying to figure out what was wrong ….. read the comment by its author,on his website... that most books are DRM CRYPTED and therefore unable to open the book. Also requires mac ox 10.7 which I have…... I feel cheated…. unless you buy epub dont expect to read a itune book with this app!

Nice app but needs a better way to search for and add books.

I bought it, but never use it, because I cannot read book I bought on the iTunes store!!!! DRM books cannot be read by BookReader, only book that are not locked or obtain illegally can be read. This make no sense!

Do NOT buy if you are trying to read books bought from the APP Store on your Mac. My old iPod touch is no longer supported and I cannot read my purchased books any longer. I bought this App thinking I could open the books on my Mac. I cannot. For some strange reason Apple does NOT want me to read.

I spent a long time looking for an app like this one: one that you can not only take notes, but also export them. This one can do that, and so much more! The developer is also very friendly; I emailed a question, and had an answer the same day! He is open to suggestions for improvement, and where else can you find that? No, you cant open DRM books - yet - but he DOES tell you that in the app description. For everything else, this app cant be beat. Absolutely fantastic.

i got this app because you people will not let me read my ibooks on my mac and now i downloaded it and the books are all corrupted and its just a bunch of gibberish in the books and it is noe impossible to read so i wnat my money back

Best thing about this reader is the 2-page book like reading format. You dont realize what an advantage it is until you start looking at your book/document in another program and see how much easier the view is using this application. This program loads the books easily, is quick, is all in English, and looks clean & professional. I really enjoyed the "Lite" version and bought the full so that I could keep books my books organized in its visual library. Keep up the great work! :) p.s. they are really awesome if you have any questions or issues with anything.
